23 MW Acquired From Kendall Sustainable Infrastructure
CleanCapital has acquired 40 assets totaling 22.7 megawatts (MW) from Kendall Sustainable Infrastructure (KSI). KSI, an early institutional investor in community solar projects, sees this sale as a major milestone, completing its first of three community solar-focused funds.
The acquisition expands CleanCapital’s portfolio to over 240 projects, encompassing more than 340 MW of operating and under-construction assets. According to Wood Mackenzie, this positions CleanCapital among the largest commercial solar portfolio holders in the United States.
Manulife Investment Management (Manulife IM), in partnership with its institutional co-investors, has boosted its equity investment in CleanCapital by $145 million. This builds on Manulife IM’s prior commitment in 2023, with co-investors participating as anticipated.
The additional funding underscores the rising demand for clean energy infrastructure and reaffirms CleanCapital’s strong attractiveness to leading institutional investors.
The investment will enable CleanCapital to accelerate its early-stage development initiatives through its internal team and strategic developer partnerships. It also reinforces CleanCapital’s position as a top acquirer and operator of solar assets. Since Manulife IM’s initial investment in 2021, CleanCapital has allocated over $1 billion toward new solar and energy storage projects.
